The Ilderton Fair has crowned the new Fair Ambassador for 2016 after the annual competition last night at the community centre. Katelyn O'Neil of Denfield was successful and competed against 4 others for the title.

BEAN FEST IS BACK

The fun-filled Zurich Bean Festival is back for another year. The festival runs from August 26th to the 28th, and most of the events are held in the Zurich core located on Main Street, Victoria Lane, and Goshen Street. The festival is a free admission family friendly event.

YOUNG PERSON STRUCK AT PINERY PARK

There was a collision over the weekend involving a pick-up truck and a youth at the Pinery Provincial Park and now Lambton OPP wants to speak with the driver. Police say the collision happened in a parking lot at the Provincial Park as the youth began running between parked vehicles.

POLICE IDENTIFY MAN WHO DIED AT GRAND BEND BEACH

64-year-old Walter Sugden of Stratford has been identified as the male who died at the beach in Grand Bend on August 18th. Lambton OPP was called to Grand Bend about a man that had been pulled from the water.

OLYMPIAN MELANIE MCCANN RETURNS HOME FROM RIO

A local Olympian is back on Canadian soil and she says it?s always nice to be home. Melanie McCann says being in Rio was an amazing experience, and she felt lots of love and support from the local community. McCann finished in 16th at the Rio games in the modern pentathlon.

Huron County OPP say there's always more urgency in solving a theft when there's weapons involved. Police say early Monday morning a Brucefield resident was awakened to the sound of a vehicle leaving his farm property.

GRAND BEND SWIMMER REVIVED

A lifeguard and an off-duty paramedic are being credited with saving the life of a man who was rescued from Lake Huron. Police say a 21-year-old man was swimming at Grand Bend Beach yesterday when he began experiencing distress and had to be pulled from the water.

SOUTH HURON HOSPITAL GETS KEY FUNDING

The Ministry of Health and Long-term Care has had the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for a number of years and Ontario hospitals have benefited. This year is different as the government is providing an additional $50 million to help hospitals.
