FIRE DEPARTMENT'S NEW LADDER TRUCK SEES ACTION
6/13/2017 9:49:58 AM

The South Huron Fire Department responded to a large barn fire last Thursday and used their brand new ladder truck for the first time. The ladder truck is not officially in service yet, as firefighters are finishing up training. The new truck will be mostly used for buildings in the downtown, certain rescues and large industries, but South Huron Fire Chief Andrew Baird says that everything above and beyond that is great. Baird explains how the ladder truck assisted with the barn fire.

Baird adds the new truck probably saved 2-3 hours of work and took crews out of dangerous areas. Crews believe the fire was started by accident.
