TRANSIT SPEAKER DISCUSSES RURAL TRANSIT
8/10/2017 9:59:57 AM

Every rural community has a transportation issue...that was the message from Public Transportation Coordinator for Norfolk County, Brad Smith who did a presentation at the Grand Bend Legion on Wednesday. The topic of the discussion was looking at a rural transportation service that could connect surrounding municipalities, and Norfolk was used as a template. Smith tells myFM News that the program so far has been successful in Norfolk County.

Smith adds he doesn't believe there is a single transit mold for every community but adds there are ways to solve transit problems in communities. He adds that the transit service allows people to go places they were not able to go before due to the distance. According to President of the Grand Bend and Area Chamber of Commerce, Glen Baillie, the next logical step is to form a steering committee and anyone interested in joining is asked to contact the Grand Bend and Area Chamber of Commerce.
