If a fire occurred in your home today, would you and your family know what to do? That is the question being asked this week as part of Fire Prevention Week. This year's theme is "Every second counts; plan two ways out!" In the event of a fire, you and your family may only have seconds to escape as homes burn up to eight times faster than 50 years ago. It's recommended everyone in the home not only know what to do when the smoke alarm sounds, but actually practice your fire escape plan. Families are also to have a pre-determined meeting place as well as knowing that once you are out of the home, stay out. Firefighters will be conducting their door to door smoke alarm campaign this month. Fire Prevention Week wraps up on Saturday.
