PUSHBACK FROM LOCAL GROUPS REGARDING THE BAYFIELD ICE
2/7/2018 8:28:01 AM

The Bayfield Arena is still on track to have the ice removed from the facility, but the road is long and locals are putting up as many road blocks as they can to keep the ice for next season. Bluewater Council set in place a motion to have the ice taken out before next season, then decided to conduct a feasability study. Chairman of the Bayfield Arena Community Partners Association Ron Keys spoke to myFM and feels that council has already made a choice about the arena before the study was even ordered.

Keys says that the ice comes out at the end of April, and he's unsure if it's ever going to come back. He add that in his opinion, the arena is a local economic driver that attracts families and gives a place for local business to invest their money. He hopes that the upcoming feasability study shows that the arena -and the ice- are a beloved attraction in Bayfield.
