SOUTH HURON HEARS REPORT FROM GM BLUEPLAN

South Huron Municipal Council met Mondauy evening (February 5th). Lots was talked about, but the big ticket item was a report received by GM Blueplan engineering consultants regarding the Exeter Sewage lagoon, located at the corner of Dashwood and Airport Line. The report stated that the final stage of the filtration process, which uses sand filters, has reached the end of its life-cycle. The firm offered 2 best case options. 1 plan for a partial replacement of the sand costing 1 million dollars, the second would be a complete replacement of the sand costing 1.7 million dollars. CAO Dan Best says that more needs to be discussed until a decision can be reached

Best adds that while council still has a lot to consider, they had only set aside 1 million in the budget for updating the filtration systems. Now council must choose what plan they want, and how fast they want to implement it.
