The Ontario government is investing more than $20 million in the Celebrate Ontario 2018 program, which will be supporting 328 festivals and events. The funding helps organizers enhance programming, activities, and services so festivals and events can offer new experiences, reach new audiences and support local jobs. Some local festivals and events will be benefiting from the funding including the extended season at the Huron County Playhouse here in South Huron who will be receiving $135,588. Other area events or festivals getting funding include the Lucan Baconfest will be getting $42,565, the Stratford Festival is getting $300 thousand, the World to Stratford 2018 is getting $90,587, Rural Roots Concerts in Huron County is getting $14,250, and the Blyth Festival Extended Season in North Huron is getting $60 thousand.
