OPP WARN OF FAKE MONEY
4/10/2018 10:40:07 AM

Provincial Police are warning everyone to be vigilant when accepting money, as fake bills have been located across Perth County. Police say that counterfeit money will often vary in size, paper consistency, and wording, and are warning everyone to be aware of souvenirs that may have the appearance of a bill. Legal Canadian money contains security features like being made of polymer with a smooth texture and raised ink. There are also transparent sections on both sides of the bill and details will be present in the metallic images. Police say that all retailers have the right to refuse payments made with questionable bills and can request an alternative method. Anyone or business who suspects a bill is fake is asked to notify police.
