After starting a small fundraising page online, Reese Thomson's Mom Elena didn't think her efforts to get her daughter a wheelchair accessible van would get very far. That was back in January. Now almost 4 months later, The community has come together to raise over $21,000 for the family so they could afford a way to get their 9 year old daughter with vanishing white matter disease around to the places she needed to be. Thomson says she is stunned by how supportive our local communities are.

The fundraising continues this weekend at the Sobeys in Grand Bend this Friday. Between 11 and 4:30, the Grand Bend grocer will be hosting a BBQ at their location, where Elena and Reese will be on hand to meet everyone who stops by. Thomson adds that they have use the money raised so put a down payment on a Van, and are currently in the process of having it equipped with everything it needs to be wheelchair accessible.
