LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES UP FOR COMMUNITIES IN BLOOM AWARDS

A few local communities are being recognized by Communities in Bloom which is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on enhancing green spaces in local communities. A jury rates the municipalities on eight criteria including Tidiness, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Urban Forestry, Landscape, Turf & Groundcovers, Floral Displays and Community Involvement. The National Edition includes categories for population, circle of excellence, class of champions, grand champions, international challenge, and special attractions. The Municipality of South Huron is among three finalists in the population category of municipalities with sizes of 5001 to 10 thousand. Lambton Shores is in the Grand Champions category which is where past winners of Population, International Challenge, and Class of Champions compete amongst themselves. And Stratford and Goderich are in the Circle of Excellence category which is a non-competitive category, for past national winners. myFM will keep you updated with more Communities in Bloom information including overall winners.
