The Ministry of Natural Resources wants to remind local residents to be safe around bears this summer. This comes after CTV reports a 170 pound black bear was killed between Clinton and Goderich on the road. Media relations officers Jolanta Kowalski says normally bears want to avoid humans and most encounters are not aggressive. She adds that while deer are commonly hit, it's much more rare to see a bear involved in a collision. Kowalski says attacks are rare, but if you feel a bear poses an immediate threat to your safety to call 911.
