Over 10,400 cigarette butts have been collected from Huron County beaches and parks. That's according to the Huron County Health Unit who is teaming up with the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation to clean up Goderich beaches following the long weekend this Friday. The groups along with volunteers will be paying special attention to cigarette butts and cigarette litter. Public Health Promoter Jacquie Uprichard says the impact of butts on local wildlife is a big one.

All the cigarette butts collected will be counted and then properly recycled. Anyone looking to help clean the beaches is asked to contact the Huron County Health Unit or just show up at the Rotary Cove Beach between 3 PM and 7 PM.
