We get some "tropical sun" today. Environment Canada is warning of a UV index that one would typically see vacationing in the islands instead of right here in Ontario.

That was Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says people need to wear large floppy hats, high SPF sunscreen, and try to limit your time outside from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. today when the UV index will peak. He says during that time, it won't take much for the sun to affect your skin.

If you are heading to the beach, know that white sand and other bright surfaces reflect UV rays and increase UV exposure. He adds there is some relief on the way, with a chance for showers in the afternoon and thunderstorms in the evening that may be severe. Coulson says this will lead to a cold front coming through on Friday, ending this heat wave.
