STRIKING MINE WORKERS BLOCK ACCESS TO MINE
7/6/2018 8:51:45 AM

Unifor Local 16-O hopes the blockade they put on the road to Compass Minerals will deter replacement workers from stealing their jobs. Unifor alleges the company has been demanding concessions that include mandatory overtime, reduced benefits, and a weakening of contracting-out provisions. Compass Minerals is a company based in the U.S, but Vice president of the Grey-Bruce labour council, Dave Trumble, says he hopes the new Ontario government can get involved.

The workers at Compass Minerals have been off the job since April 27th.
