Big changes are coming to the winery industry.
That was Huron-Bruce MPP and Minister of Government and Consumer Services, Lisa Thompson who made the announcement in Blyth on Monday afternoon. Thompson also says the government is cutting down on red tape for the winery industry.
The Marquette hybrid grape will help small and new wineries enter Ontario’s VQA wine market.
The grape is also very hearty so it’s perfect for Huron-Bruce growing conditions and it also has a disease-resistant characteristic which is also good for Huron-Bruce conditions.
Thompson says a desired outcome is to create more jobs and to attract more people to the region.
