
On Wednesday (April 22) just after midnight, officers saw a sedan traveling eastbound on Hydro Line Road without a front licence plate.
The driver also failed to lower their high beams, so officers turned around and tried to do a traffic stop, but the driver sped up and fled.
Police followed but held back until backup units arrived to assist.
Officers tried another traffic stop on Perth Line 34 but the driver fled and headed towards Dublin, so police used a spike belt shortly after but that didn’t slow the driver down a he sped on bare rims towards Seaforth.
The accused then sideswiped a police cruiser before finally being stopped just outside of Seaforth.
The driver is then alleged to have resisted arrest which prompted police to use a conducted energy weapon to arrest him.
A search of the vehicle turned up stolen property including identification and a licence plate.
22 year old Colton Gowan from Huron East is facing charges for flight from police, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, dangerous operation and other charges.
The passenger, a 23 year old woman from Arran-Elderslie is facing charges for possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest and failure to comply charges.
