
Jana Bayer Smith is a local secondary school principal, mother, and mental health advocate.
From a young age, Jana taught music to younger children, before moving on to teach sailing and skiing,
Jana thought about becoming an elementary educator before ultimately choosing to go the secondary route, and got her bachelor’s degree in education.
She has accomplished a number of different things including being a member of Lucan Talks, supporting other mental health initiatives, the Tanner Steffler Foundation, and in her early teaching days she was involved in a program called Students for Teaching Peace that did international travel to Serbia.
Jana says when it comes to advice for those starting out in the education field, its all about building relationships.
