The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority recieved its annual installment of the Canada Nature Fund, a federal support pillar aimed at helping the recovery of at-risk acquatic species and educate youth about watersheds.
The ABCA are in the second year of the four year funding, and recieved $175,000 for 2020.
Stewardship Land and Education Manager Kate Monk said the money will be divided up to a few different avenues.
She says last year the funding helped operate a number of programs inside and outside schools, and help the ABCA erosion control and cover crops efforts.
Monk said it’s important to educate the younger generation about the at-risk species in their own backyard to inspire change and action.
