March 11th (Today) has been designated as a National Day of Observance by the Federal Government as a way to pay tribute to everyone who has passed away due to COVID-19.
To mark the occasion the Town of St. Marys is offering the entrance steps of the public library on Church Street as a place where the community can pay tribute.
Everyone is encouraged to leave flowers, cards, painted rocks or any item that helps them remember those who have lost their lives during the pandemic.
The Town is also leaving sidewalk chalk for people to write messages, and items will be displayed until Monday March 15th.
In Canada alone over 22 thousand people have died due to COVID-19 including over 7000 in Ontario and 50 in Huron Perth alone.
For more information or questions about this display, please contact Sarah Andrews, CEO, of St. Marys Public Library at 519-284-2340, ext. 723 or sandrews@town.stmarys.on.ca.
