Tuesday night May 18th, South Huron firefighters were called to 139 Gidley Street West in Exeter for a house fire. The lone occupant was out of the house safely when firefighters arrived on scene.
Thanks to their efforts, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the home and get it under control without spreading to adjacent properties. Some damage was done to vehicles in the driveway as a result of the fire as well. Firefighters left the scene around 2am Thursday morning.
Inspectors from the Office Of The Fire Marshall are on scene today to assess the structure and possible cause. Members from the South Huron Fire Department are on scene as well to assist the Inspectors. Gidley Street will remain closed between Carling & Marlborough Streets while the investigation is underway.
As a reminder, our firefighters are volunteers so be sure to watch for green flashing lights while on the road, and move safely to let them by.
