Huron County Welcoming Week starts September 9-18.
It’s a time to showcase local communities’ steps to being more welcoming places for all.
All Welcoming Week the libraries in Huron County will have welcome displays in their windows.
Other events taking place include a Multicultural Festival in Goderich, Welcome Hike, webinars, and a neighborhood BBQ in Clinton.
Sunday, September 11 – Multicultural Festival, Goderich
The event is being held on The Square, in Goderich, from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM
September 10 and 14 – Welcome hikes guided by volunteers with the Maitland Trail Association
These two hikes are designed for those new to Canada to get a taste of hiking in Huron County. The hikes will take place on: Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Maitland Woods and Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Sifto Loop.
September 15 – Webinar – Welcoming and Inclusive Workplaces: How to Recruit and Retain Talent
Diversity.
September 15, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, for this virtual event is a collaboration of Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) of Southwestern Ontario and Will Immploy – a project of Will Employment Solutions. Register for the workshop
September 17 – Get to know your neighbour barbecue at Clinton’s Harvest Festival
Join a team of volunteers organizing a welcoming barbeque for newcomers and new community residents at the Clinton Harvest Fest. Clinton’s Harvest Fest is being held on Saturday, September 17, from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM in the community’s downtown.
September 9-18 – Welcoming Week window display contest
Watch for welcoming displays appearing in windows and at Huron County Library branches and the Centre for Employment and Learning.
