113 MPS voted against a Bill that would make those eligible for a GST rebate, a $500 one time allowance for low-income renters, and a new dental benefit for children 12 and under that live in low and modest income families.
Two of those MPs are local, with Huron-Bruce’s Ben Lobb and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex’s Lianne Rood.
myFM spoke with MP Lobb about the decision, and he says a big issue was the lack of Provincial consultation.
Lobb says he wanted to make it clear he and the Conservative Party do support dental care for all Canadians, but this bill was a lot of fluff.
We also reached out to MP Rood but didn’t receive a response.
The bill passed 212-113 with 6 MP’s Pairing or abstaining from the vote.
