Carlsun Energy Solutions is exploring the development of clean fuels and fertilizer in Huron County.
The company would be producing clean hydrogen and clean ammonia at the former Bluewater Youth Centre property.
Paul McCleave, the Project Manager, says the process of making clean ammonia and hydrogen is fairly simple.
McCleave says Ontario has one of the cleanest energy grids, which is what makes the production clean.
McCleave says the Bluewater Youth Centre property is in a unique spot for the facility, The geologic formations can store hydrogen, like in the empty salt deposits.
McCleave says there is minimal impact to the environment. Right now, the town is still demolishing the Bluewater Youth Centre building. Afterwards, they would do all their environmental tests and assessments. McCleave says they would have a similar situation as the Sarnia plant, with it being close to water.
There is still a lot to be done before the plant is ready to go. McCleave says it will be a few years before anything big happens.
