As Jessica’s House eyes it’s five year anniversary on Sunday June 18th, a birthday present in the form of top up funding was presented to them on Wednesday (June 14) by MPP Lisa Thompson.
The $210,300 investment has been provided as part of nearly $150 million to be distributed throughout the province over 3 years.
Current Chair of the Governance Board for Jessica’s House Colin Haskett says that the funding will cover shortfalls in their operational budget,
Minister Thompson said that she touts the success and importance of Jessica’s House throughout the province in her visits to other communities,
Haskett says that the funding is a natural choice for the provincial government,
The provincial funding is expected to be used to expand grief and bereavement support to families – expanding that service to parents that have lost infant children, while also increasing the amount of operational funding by 45% for all approved hospice residence beds.
