Tick season is upon us, and tick bites can be dangerous.
Ticks can carry a bacteria that causes lyme disease, though the threat is reduced if the tick is removed before the 24 hour mark.
Public Health Inspector with Huron Perth Public Health, Kaitlyn Kelly says you can remove a tick yourself.
Kelly recommends monitoring for symptoms for up to 30 days afterwards.
Kelly explains that light coloured clothes and less exposed skin can help prevent tick bites.
If you’re concerned about a tick bite, Kelly says you can contact Huron Perth Public Health.
