The town of Seaforth welcomed a new mural painted by a local artist on Thursday afternoon (August 3).
The mural – located on the side of the Everspring Farms building on Main Street and faces the train tracks – a fitting location considering the subject matter – the mural pays homage to the town’s history as a rail hub including a vintage locomotive, as well as the original flour mill.
Seaforth BIA Secretary Maureen Agar said that the mural would be a lovely addition to the town,
The piece was painted by Hensall artist Robert Johnson, he said that learning about local history to create an accurate piece has been one of his favourite parts of the project.
Johnson said that knowing his piece will be a visual landmark in the town was a big motivator for him,
The piece was funded through a grant to Huron County Economic Development which created five murals in the towns of Exeter, Clinton, Wingham, Bayfield, and Seaforth. The Exeter and Clinton murals have not yet been unveiled.
