Yesterday afternoon, Jessica’s House Hospice celebrated a remarkable 5-year journey, standing as a testament to community unity and unwavering support.
Colin Haskett, Chair of the Governance Board, modestly acknowledged his and the board’s role in the transition that Jessica’s House had made from concept to reality. He emphasized that the true heroes are the compassionate souls who labor within its walls, providing care and comfort day in and day out.
Mayor of South Huron George Finch echoed the sentiment, highlighting the hospice as a point of pride for the community, which he witnessed evolve throughout his tenure. In fact, local mayors from neighbouring municipalities also were present at the event to show their support of the hospice, showing the impact that the hospice has had beyond South Huron.
Tracy Snell, the Hospice’s Director, expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming community support that brought the hospice to life, and sustains it to this day.
Although unable to attend, MPP Lisa Thompson extended her congratulations through a certificate presented by her staff. MP Ben Lobb offered his staunch support for the hospice cause, expressing hope that national funding could one day enable hospices across the country, transcending political affiliations.
