South Huron Hospital reopened their Emergency Department on Saturday following an 18 hour shutdown due to an incident involving a mental health patient.
The department will be running at 2/3 capacity as two rooms require repairs and will be out of service until further notice.
The closure began on Friday night, and as a result of the incident no injuries were sustained.
The hospital extended its deepest gratitude to the first responders, dedicated staff, and compassionate physicians who worked to ensure the safety of all involved.
This incident has prompted the hospital to reflect on and enhance its protocols to further ensure the safety of everyone involved.
