Relouw Early Childhood Learning Centre in Exeter, and other childcare centres across the county will be shutting their doors on October 17th for Early Childhood Educators (ECE) Appreciation Day.
Cheryl Patience, the Manager of Ontario Works and Children’s Services for the County of Huron says that the day is extremely important.
ECEs are the unsung heroes of our educational landscape. They work tirelessly to nurture young minds at their most impressionable stage, instilling vital social and emotional skills that extend far beyond mere daycare.
If you ask Patience, the benefits of quality, accessible childcare extend to the entire community, providing childcare for workers in a variety of sectors that are vital to our economy.
Despite their invaluable contributions, ECEs historically have faced challenges related to salaries that don’t adequately reflect the vital work they do. The day is intended to help generate greater recognition and support.
On ECE Appreciation Day, many childcare centers will be closed – make sure you check with your daycare to ensure you’re not caught without childcare.
As we approach October 17th, let’s take a moment to thank the ECEs in our lives. Their dedication and commitment help our community thrive, shaping the future generation and enhancing our collective well-being.
