Many authors make use of the museum's archives.
Huron County Museum and the Historic Gaol are hosting ‘Author Talk’ on tonight from 6-9pm!
Sinead Cox Curator of Engagement and Dialogue at the museum and Gaol, says this is a chance to get into the heads of local authors.
The event will feature two author panels and reception, a book fair and talk with local authors, who have written about or in Huron County.
This is the first live event of the Huron Author Talk Podcast, which the library has been working on for a while.
If you’re a reader, or a history person this is just for you.
From the museum’s point of view it’s all about learning what people are interested in accessing, and what resources they would like to see more of.
Many are accessing things like diaries and land records, while some are accessing photographs.
She hopes to learn more about the stories that are being told, and focus on stories from our local community.
This is a rare chance to not only meet some authors and get them to maybe sign your book, but also hear about their process and how the stories come about.
You can hear about their process, where did the story come from and how did it go from the authors brain to the pages we read.
Local authors joining include Sandi Plewis, David Yates, Taylor Jones, Valerie Mills-Milde, Cynthia Everest, Rick Hundey, Hayley Linfield, Tanya MacIntyre and Judy Keightley.
Snacks and coffee for everyone.
