
The Huron Shores Area Transit has released its October monthly report.
By the looks of things, their ridership goal will be reached by the end of this year as they saw 14,032 boardings on the transit, which is up 136% in year to year growth.
The Summer Bus ran on weekends staring in July, until September 3rd. It also ran non-stop from Masonville Mall in London to Sobeys Plaza in Grand Bend, with four trips each day.
The report revealed that the fare box revenue for the bus was $5,430 while the net cost to run the bus was $6,744 (bus & driver cost $12,174 minus revenue)
The transit also saw that 5,833 bus trips or 43% of trips were paid for using a Smart Card which was launched back in 2021.
3,914 Smart Cards were Monthly Passes.
The Employee Shuttle saw that ridership demand maxed out bus capacity.
Route 1, which goes from Sarnia to Grand Bend ssaw ridership increase dramatically in July.
The bus was often full of workers as it left Sarnia towards Forest, Kettle Point, Port Franks, Grand Bend, Exeter.
Summer 2024 will focus on Lambton College student employment office.
At request of North Middlesex Council , the transit will add bus stop at Craigweil Gardens Senior Apartments in Ailsa Craig, add a third return trip to allow passengers stay longer in Strathroy and Grand Bend, lower bus stop signs to make them easier to see and provide instructions on how to read a schedule.
