The COVID-19 outbreak at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, has officially come to an end.
Huron Perth Public Health declared the outbreak over this morning – it was initially declared on the Inpatient Unit on November 16.
Now, with the outbreak officially over, the Inpatient Unit has reopened for admissions and transfers, and the community can now visit their loved ones again.
Erica Jensen, Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Infection Control, emphasized the ongoing importance of protective measures to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses in the region. She urged everyone to stay vigilant by keeping up with flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, practicing frequent handwashing, staying home when feeling unwell, and wearing masks as required.
Speaking of masks, masking continues to be a mandatory practice in Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance hospitals. This includes inpatient units, emergency departments, outpatient clinics, imaging, labs, and waiting rooms.
