The tractor that had been lodged in the side of a Main Street business in Seaforth for 56 days was officially removed on Friday afternoon, December 8. A collision which occurred on October 13, had led to the closure of a section of Main Street South, impacting daily lives and businesses in the area.
The removal process drew significant attention from the local community, with residents gathering to witness the momentous occasion. Many brought lawn chairs, creating a makeshift viewing area to observe the intricate operation. Adding a modern touch to the event, Shop and Discover Huron East took to Facebook, livestreaming the removal.
The prolonged presence of the tractor had been a source of concern for both safety and the local economy. With the structural challenges posed by the collision and the subsequent discovery of asbestos in the building, removal was a long and delicate process that involved the building owners’ insurance provider, and several experts.
