It’s time for 12 days of Fire Safety, brought to you by the Lambton Shores Fire Department and South Huron Fire Department.
As the festive season approaches, the joy of receiving new toys can be accompanied by potential risks, particularly with the growing popularity of lithium-ion battery-powered devices.
Todd Mellin, Public Education Lead with Lambton Shores Fire Department, urged parents and guardians to read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully, and keep an eye on charging devices.
It’s best to always use the manufacturer’s cord to make sure that it’s compatible – and be mindful of where you’re charging your devices.
Mellin says that newer devices with reusable batteries, while convenient, can sometimes lead to some forgetful practices.
As the holiday season approaches, Mellin’s insights serve as a reminder to prioritize safety, turning the excitement of new toys into a celebration free from potential hazards.
