The recent outbreak of COVID-19 at the Seaforth Community Hospital has been officially declared over by Huron Perth Public Health.
The outbreak was initially declared on December 18, and prompted heightened testing, visitor controls and limitations on admissions and transfers.
Erica Jensen, the Manager of Quality, Patient Safety & Infection Control, emphasized the ongoing importance of protective measures to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses in the region. She urged the community to stay informed about flu and COVID-19 vaccines, maintain regular hand hygiene practices, stay home if feeling unwell, and adhere to mask-wearing guidelines.
Speaking specifically about masks, Jensen emphasized their mandatory use in all clinical areas of HPHA hospital sites, encompassing inpatient units, emergency departments, outpatient clinics, imaging, labs, and waiting rooms. Medical-grade masks are available throughout the hospital sites. She also strongly advised individuals experiencing illness symptoms to postpone visits until they have fully recovered.
