It’s “Your Health, Your Wellness Day” on myFM – and we sat down with Tracy Snell, the Executive Director at Jessica’s House Hospice.
She said that the hospice serves not only those that are at the end of their life, but extends beyond the walls of it’s building in Exeter.
The hospice aims to demystify the often-taboo topic of death and helps start difficult conversations for families.
Collaboration with healthcare providers, including South Huron Hospital, showcases Jessica’s House’s commitment to a comprehensive support system. Tracy discussed partnerships with physicians, connecting those in their care with local organizations and supports.
The hospice also runs several bereavement support initiatives, from one-on-one sessions to larger group supports, addressing specific needs identified by the community. Specialized workshops, such as the Christmas bereavement workshop, offer solace during challenging times.
Beyond the hospice walls, Jessica’s House actively engages with the community through initiatives like the Tribute Tree at Christmastime, Hike for Hospice on May 25th, extending into the town of Lucan, and the Handbags event on October 25th, offering a lively night for women to come together in support.
