A report to South Huron Council at their meeting last Monday (March 4), drew attention to the municipality’s growth projections as outlined in a study compiled by Watson and Associates for the County of Huron.
Director of Planning and Building Services Mike Rolph highlighted the findings of the study – with projected continuous growth.
Councillor Aaron Neeb expressed optimism about the projections, noting the positive outlook for the municipality. However, he raised concerns regarding infrastructure capacity to accommodate the projected growth.
Rolph reassured council that the community had the resources to accomodate, and mentioned ongoing conversations with Infrastructure Manager Don Giberson regarding the upcoming wastewater and water master plan, which aims to tackle capacity. Rolph emphasized the abundance of water resources available, sourced from Lake Huron, and assured council that capacity for waste servicing is currently sufficient.
Deputy Mayor Jim Dietrich underscored the significance of South Huron’s growth not only for the municipality but also for the wider county.
Mayor George Finch commended previous councils for their wise infrastructure investments, which have positioned South Huron favorably for anticipated growth.
