The Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) Immunization team is issuing a vital reminder to parents: ensure your child’s immunization records are up to date.
With nearly 2900 student records still incomplete, they’re now looking to suspend children this May that don’t have the mandated vaccines.
Initially when they began to check student records in January, over 5000 lacked the required documentation.
Recent global measles outbreaks, coupled with cases in Ontario, underscore the critical importance of maintaining up-to-date immunizations. Notably, measles immunization is among the requirements being enforced by HPPH. Higher vaccination rates not only protect individual students but also foster collective immunity against potentially serious diseases.
Parents who received a letter indicating sufficient vaccine records are urged to take action by either updating their child’s immunization status online at www.hpph.ca/icon or calling HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3558.
For students requiring vaccinations, HPPH is hosting immunization clinics to facilitate catching up, with appointments available online at www.hpph.ca/catchup or via phone at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3558.
Come April, HPPH will issue suspension notices to students without proof of up-to-date immunizations or a valid exemption. Suspensions will commence on May 23.
