Last Monday at South Huron Council some local heroes were recognized for all their hardwork and for everything they have done to keep the community safe.
To kick off council this week, Fire Long-Term Services Awards were handed out to 11 outstanding individuals.
Mayor George Finch started the award presentation with some kind words for all the firefighters who have served and continue to serve South Huron and area.
Different awards were handed out, including 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 years of service.
Marshall Jeffery, Greg Gielen, and Nathan Bedard were honoured with 5 years of service. Jayden Desjardine, Angela Gould, Matt Miller, and Jamie Hodge were honoured with 10 years of service. Brian Martene was honoured with 15 year of service. Jamie Hoffman was honoured with 25 years of service while John Becker and James Hoffman were both honoured with 50.
Mayor Finch continued to extend kind words throughout the presentation, not only to those being recognized, but to their families as well.
Once the award portion concluded, Mayor Finch had some final parting words for all those involved in firefighting.
