A local hockey team is looking to raise funds in honour of their friend who passed away back in 2018. The Matt Huether Memorial Tournament is set to go this weekend with the first game set for Friday.
Member of the Young Buck Hockey team in the Seaforth Industrial Hockey League, Dean Johnston says this event has special meaning to all those involved.
Everyone is welcome to come out and watch the hockey games, and according to Johnston, no tickets need to be purchased in order to attend the games.
Johnston says funds raised from the event went to the Trillium Gift of Life Network, but now they are going to a place that is local in the community and that also helped Matt.
Puck drop for the first game is set for 6pm on Friday, with 16 teams competing over 3 days. If you would like to find out more information about the event or make a donation, visit: The 4th Annual Matt Huether Memorial Tournament | Facebook
