Avon Maitland District School Board is gearing up to host a Transition Fair aimed at empowering students with developmental disabilities and their families to navigate the complexities of adult services and plan for their future beyond high school.
That was Katie Fox, the Co-Executive Director for Community Living South Huron – she says that events like the Transition Fair, provide students and families with the opportunity to meet adult developmental service providers face-to-face. Fox stressed the importance of early planning.
Preceding the pandemic, the Transition Fair was a regular event, typically held in Perth county. However, this year, the fair has expanded to two locations – Mitchell and Clinton.
The Transition Fair offers a platform for individuals to explore different pathways and learn about available services. Fox expressed excitement about meeting young individuals with diverse interests and talents.
Families interested in attending the Transition Fair can find details on the Avon Maitland District School Board’s Facebook page or Community Living South Huron’s Facebook page. The events will take place on May 4th at CHSS from 9 am till noon, and on April 20th at Mitchell District High School.
