Rachel Gras grew up outside of Seaforth – formerly serving as the 2023-2024 4-H Ontario Ambassador, Rachel has recently transitioned into a role as a dedicated 4-H youth leader. Her journey in agriculture, however, began long before her ambassadorship. Raised on a farm, Rachel one day dreams of becoming a farmer herself.
Currently pursuing a degree in Food and Agriculture Business at the University of Guelph, Rachel is arming herself with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the agricultural landscape of tomorrow. Despite her busy academic schedule, Rachel remains deeply involved in various agricultural programs, including her role as the Huron County Queen of the Furrow, and working at Hensall District Co-op to gain practical skills in her field.
Central to Rachel’s journey is her unwavering commitment to 4-H, an organization she joined at the age of 12. Reflecting on her involvement, Rachel emphasizes the invaluable lessons in responsibility, leadership, and communication that 4-H instills in its members.
For Rachel, 4-H represents not only a platform for personal growth but also a pathway to nurturing the next generation of farmers.
In her current role with Hensall District Co-op, Rachel is gaining hands-on experience in livestock management, further solidifying her expertise in the field.
Looking ahead, Rachel envisions herself balancing her future sheep farming endeavors with continued engagement in agricultural initiatives, leveraging her diverse skill set to contribute meaningfully to the industry.
