It’s Nurses’ Week, and we reached out to the South Huron Hospital to shine a spotlight on a local nurse that serves our own community.
Cara Morrisey is a registered nurse, bringing seven years of experience and a wealth of compassion to her role.
Her journey into nursing began during high school when she embarked on a co-op placement at Extra Villa. It was there that she discovered her passion for serving the community through healthcare.
Beyond the common perception of nursing being only about administering medication, Cara says that nursing is comprised of a wide variety of tasks.
Audio PlayerOne of the aspects Cara cherishes most about her job is the diversity of each day, and embracing the opportunity to make a difference in various ways with each shift.
Audio PlayerCentral to Cara’s approach to nursing is her deep understanding of the emotional aspect of patient care. She values the importance of empathy and connection, recognizing that emotional support is just as crucial as physical care.
As a native of South Huron (she grew up on a farm outside of Mount Carmel), Cara’s roots run deep within the community. Her familiarity with the area and its residents enhances her ability to connect with patients.
Audio PlayerDespite the challenges posed by staffing shortages in healthcare, Cara remains steadfast in her dedication to her profession. She attributes much of her resilience to the strong sense of camaraderie among her colleagues at South Huron Hospital.
Audio PlayerThis Nurses’ Week, Cara encourages everyone to express gratitude to the nurses in their lives. A simple thank you can go a long way in recognizing the tireless efforts of these healthcare heroes.
