Hoping to streamline supports for for individuals in need, Victim Services of Perth County has officially merged with Huron County Victim Services as of May 1st.
According to Executive Director Deborah Logue, the former alignment of Perth Victim Services with Grey and Bruce counties presented logistical challenges due to its extensive coverage area, and the vast number of services that serve Huron and Perth Counties in a blanket.
The move separates Grey Bruce and Huron Perth into separate entities, enabling a more concentrated focus on serving the communities within each jurisdiction. This will also reduce the workload needed to collaborate around several tables.
Logue says that the merger will enhance client services – with a more localized approach, staff and volunteers can now see clients quicker, foster stronger relationships and provide tailored support to individuals in need.
Despite the organizational restructuring, the process for contacting victim services remains unchanged. Individuals seeking assistance can continue to utilize the existing phone numbers, whether contacting the Huron-Perth or Bruce-Grey branches.
Furthermore, efforts have been made to ensure a seamless transition for clients, with mechanisms in place to redirect inquiries to the appropriate service provider, regardless of initial contact.
They’re also working to increase their ties with local police, who are strong partners to victim services.
In essence, the merger hopes to make access easier, more comprehensive, faster and simpler for both those accessing services, and those providing them.
