Huron County, in partnership with the Avon Maitland District School Board’s Multilingual Language Learning team, has announced a new cookbook made by students from four AMDSB high schools and local artists.
Local Immigration Partnership Manager, Mark Nonkes says the book was a great project for the kids.
Students from Food Services classes at FE Madill Secondary School, Central Huron Secondary School, Goderich District Collegiate Institute, and South Huron District High School participated in this project.
Nonkes says the cookbook stemmed off another similar project.
Many students were involved in the making of the book with each putting in many hours of work. Nonkes has someone in particular he would like to thank.
The cookbook, featuring diverse recipes reflecting our community’s rich cultural heritage, is available at Huron County libraries.
This initiative aimed to engage students in a creative and educational process, enhancing their cooking skills while celebrating our region’s multicultural background. The partnership between Huron County and AMDSB allowed students to learn, create, and share their culinary traditions and new ideas.
