The general minimum wage in Ontario rose to $17.20 per hour as of today, that’s up from $16.55.
It’s a 3.9 per cent increase and is tied to the Consumer Price Index. An individual working a 40-hour work week will see an increase of up to $1,355 in their take home pay over the period of a year.
Ontario’s minimum wage is second only to B.C. David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development cautioned in a media release that minimum wage jobs should be a starting point, not an endpoint.
