Community Living South Huron is dedicated to helping people with developmental disabilities live fulfilling lives. Through their work in advocacy, education, and innovation, they empower individuals to build lives of their choosing. As part of this mission, they are offering the Michele Morue Inclusive Leader Scholarship, which will be awarded to a full-time post-secondary student who demonstrates inclusive leadership in their community. Recipients will be announced in December.
Co-Executive Director, Katie Fox explains the scholarship.
This scholarship honors Michele Morue, who was known for her warm sense of humor, infectious laughter, and love for farming, especially pigs. Michele received support from Community Living South Huron for over 30 years. Thanks to the advocacy of her sister and the help of CLSH, she enjoyed a rich life filled with family, friends, and community connections.
Community Living South Huron aims to foster interest and knowledge in the developmental sector through education. They believe this scholarship will help the recipient make a positive impact on the lives of others.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must reside in Southern Huron County, including South Huron, Huron East, and Bluewater. They should be accepted to study full-time at a recognized Canadian institution in a program related to Human Services or Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education.
The scholarship funds will be paid directly to an accredited post-secondary institution to cover tuition costs. However, expenses for books, travel, accommodations, and meals are not eligible for this award.
Applications are due by October 31 each year. Interested students can email their completed application form along with their essay or video submission to general@clsh.ca, using the subject line “Michele Morue Inclusive Leadership Application.”
