The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) know that many people will be getting on the road this weekend to visit family and friends and are expecting a big influx of traffic on our roadways.
If you’re heading this long weekend, the OPP encourage you to pack your patience and be prepared to deal with slowdowns
myFM spoke with the OPP’s Bill Dickson, who told us the OPP will be out this long weekend and gave us an idea of what they’re on the lookout for.
They’re also looking for drivers not wearing their seatbelts or who are not properly buckled up.
It’s been a deadly year on highways across the province, with Dickson noting the multiple motorcycle fatalities, cyclist fatalities, pedestrian fatalities, and fatal multi-vehicle collisions.
If you and your loved ones are spending your Thanksgiving long weekend on the water or trails, the OPP encourages you to pack all that you will need. If you’re going on the water, Dickson says to wear your personal floatation device, not just have it nearby
This long weekend, the OPP wants to make sure you’re staying safe no matter what venue you’re on, be it highway, trail or water.
