A research team at St. Joseph’s Health Care in London is working to develop a treatment for people who lost their sense of smell after contracting COVID.
The researchers are conducting a study involving an injection into an area of nerves in the neck, which could help patients who have a distorted sense of smell.
Dr. Leigh Sowerby, one of the researchers, says if the findings are positive, the team hopes it’ll help advocate for more access to the procedure.
A clinical trial has been undertaken with 44 patients.
