It’s Crabby Joe’s game day. The Exeter Hawks face off against North Middlesex tonight at 8pm at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
Will Coward, a rookie defenseman for the Exeter Hawks, has quickly become a key part of the team’s lineup. Born and raised in Exeter, Will grew up immersed in hockey, starting his journey in minor leagues with the South Huron Sabres before advancing to AAA hockey with the Huron-Perth Lakers.
Settling into the role of defense early on, Coward credits his parents for steering him toward the position.
Joining the Hawks this season as a rookie, Coward has embraced the team’s tight-knit dynamic. Building friendships with players across different age groups has been one of the highlights of his experience.
Will’s goals for the season are team-focused, as he hopes to see the Hawks take their division and win the Schmaltz Cup.
His inspirations come close to home, crediting his parents for their unwavering support and motivation to work hard and improve every day.
As a hometown player, Coward recognizes the importance of the Hawks’ fans in fueling the team’s success.
Will told myFM he doesn’t have any elaborate pregame rituals, he enjoys playing a quick round of sewer ball with his teammates and stretching to prepare for games. Looking ahead to Friday night’s matchup, his message to fans is simple:
Go tonight and cheer on your hometown Hawks! Come before or after the game and fuel up at Crabby Joe’s in Exeter.
